This project is designed to raise awareness of The Foundling Museum in London through an immersive experience. The Foundling Museum in London delves into the history of the UK's first home for abandoned children, established in 1739, showcasing the lives of the children, the work of founder Thomas Coram, and the institution's impact on social reform.
When a person steps onto designated footprint symbols on the ground, a video will play on a nearby digital screen. If the viewer leaves, the video resets. The video places the audience in the position of the mother, with the message 'You Came Back' for the abandoned child. Viewers then have the opportunity to receive a personalised token, reflecting the historical role of tokens in proving the identity of orphans if their mothers returned.
